Overview

Create value at TC Transcontinental

At TC Transcontinental, we've got it made, and that's because of the expertise of our team.

Responsible for managing all aspects of corporate taxation for the Transcontinental Group (the “Company”), including tax planning, risk management, and acting as a tax advisor to various internal stakeholders. The ultimate responsibility for tax compliance (corporate income tax and sales tax), as well as the accounting for applicable taxes, also falls under this role. The incumbent must therefore manage the Company’s tax team (12 people) and ensure that the Company’s interests are adequately represented before government authorities (the “Tax Authorities”) responsible for enforcing tax legislation in all jurisdictions where the Company operates.

We have been driving innovation since 1976.

With over approximately 7400 employees, TC Transcontinental is a leader in the packaging and printing industry, as well as the top French-language educational publishing group in North America. It is a company that takes care of its teams and where employees support each other. At TC Transcontinental, we lead the industry by cultivating a sense of belonging for all.

  • Ensure that advice provided to internal stakeholders is consistent, regardless of which tax team member is consulted.

Representation Before Tax Authorities

  • Ensure the Company’s interests are adequately represented, including retaining external consultants when the required expertise is not available within the Company’s tax team.
  • Ensure proper training of tax team members who will represent the Company before Tax Authorities.
  • Provide external consultants, when applicable, with all necessary information to ensure the best possible representation of the Company before Tax Authorities.

Supervision of Tax Compliance and Accounting

  • Ensure proper training of tax team members responsible for this task.
  • Supervise and perform final reviews based on materiality thresholds.

Tax Team Management

  • Ensure each team member has the training and knowledge required to successfully carry out their responsibilities. Also ensure team member retention.
  • Reassess internal resources and the need for external consultants as necessary to fulfill all responsibilities of the tax function.
